Last night I dug your picture out from our old dresser drawer
I set it on the table and I talked to it 'til four
I read some old love letters right up 'til the break of dawn
Yeah I've been sittin' alone diggin' up bones

Then I went through the jewelery and I found our wedding rings
I put mine on my finger and I gave yours a fling
across this lonely bedroom of our recent broken home
Yeah tonight I'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

I'm diggin' up bones, I'm diggin' up bones
Exhuming things that's better left alone
I'm resurrecting memories of a love that's dead and gone
Yeah tonight i'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

And I went through the closet and I found some things in there
Like that pretty neglige that i bought you to wear
And I recall how good you looked each time you had it on
Yeah tonight I'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

I'm diggin' up bones, I'm diggin' up bones
Exhuming things thats better left alone
I'm resurrecting memories of a love that's dead and gone
Yeah tonight I'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

I'm resurrecting memories of love that's dead and gone
Yeah tonight I'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

I’m not a big country music fan, but there are a few country acts that I actually have gotten into to some degree and Randy is one of them.  It’s something about his voice that just drew me in.

    1. I first came across Randy in the late 80s when my life was in a mess, his songs helped me drag myself back into the real world. I was so sad when I read about his health issues and wish him nothing but the best.

this was the first song I have in my memory from being a kid, I don’t know why but it is and I remember singing with that tape constantly and I just think he’s got one of the best voices to ever play country music… I hope he’s not suffering going through what he is but I know he’ll always have a special place in my heart and mind… Love you buddy

@Jakk Petrey about a month or two ago, during lunch I stumbled on a video of waylons…waymores blues…my God, how did I never give country music a chance?

@sorin sabau Welcome to country music Sorin, your gonna be with us for a long time keep it country.

  3. The Western King

All of his songs are catchy, I could listen to Randy Travis every day. That’s what I call true country. His gospel songs made me feel at ease.

  4. I was not raised to love country music, but there was reasons why I learned that I did love it. This song was one of those reasons.

  5. I heard this song for the first time about 3 days ago. I am completely taken. If the people in my house hear it again I may be thrown out.
    I am stuck. Beautiful song.

@Antonie L Ramirez Forever and Ever Amen is a classic Randy Travis song. It’ll never get old

  6. Marvin Thayer

Best line of the year; “I went through the jewelry, and found our wedding rings, I put mine on my finger, and I gave yours a fling.” I love this song.

@No Money You know if you play country music backwards, you get your wife back, your dog back, your truck back…. ?

He does have a great, natural baratone/ bass voice. It’s right on the mark. I think Johnny Cash, for instance has a voice that’s not as centered; it wavers a bit too much. I don’t like the corny country songs so much, but this one I love. Also I love the “It’s just A Matter of Time” cover. Fantastic.

This man is definitely one of a kind. His music, his voice, and his style of singing are so unique. He is really great

Randy Travis was my grandma’s favorite singer, and when I’m in a bad emotional place , I just put some randy Travis tunes on and cry

Combat your sad emotions with happy music. Feeling sad is a bad feeling and I’m sorry. I know how it is.

Randy Travis will always be one of my favorite country singers. He is real country the way it still should be. When he sings, you know he’s giving it all he has. One of my favorite cartoon episodes is an episode of the Nicolonian show Hey Arnold. Randy Travis makes an appearance as a country singer. It is quite fun. Also, he was on quite a few episodes of the show Touched by an Angel.
